131: Celebrating Jobfulness
Sorry for my screwy expression: it was kind of a quick shot with no retakes.
Behind me is the evidence of our feast: mashed potatoes and a large serving platter that once held grilled zucchini planks and the most perfect ribeye and pork chop I’ve ever cooked. The former just received a Northwoods spices rub (Penzey’s), the latter briefly marinated in Hunan sauce and garlic chili paste. Despite grilling them directly over a bed of coals—I prefer indirect/convection heat—I didn’t screw anything up and made a beautiful meal.
We were celebrating my new job, see. It’s a big deal that the four-month dry spell has ended and all I have to do is keep my nose clean to continue earning money for the household. We’re imbuing the event with as much positivity as possible, and grilling a couple cuts of meat is a special day for me indeed.
