What I especially like is that I’ll still be getting the flavor I want when I stir fry sans the extra calorie load. I have used things like Pam for years, but the Ideal Oil Mister is impressively efficient and just may retire its use. I’m not much for change so it may take a while. There’s nice quick start guide with several hints and also a few recipes. There’s one about garlic bread, fusilli, bruschetta, and a few others. These little hints and recipes gave me a few ideas of how I may wish to use the Mister. Very nice product that should prove quite useful to me.

I was really interested in trying out the Ideal Oil Mister, primarily because when I do a stir fry or fry veggies I use way too much oil. For example, if I’m using olive oil, it’s a whopping 119 calories per tablespoon. I tend to go overboard and conservatively use five or six tablespoons. The Mister is keeping me from adding much more oil than necessary. For example, when frying summer squash, instead of pouring I was misting. I was able to add just enough to the top of each piece before turning to keep them from sticking. The Mister is lightweight and easy to work. I simply filled it to the Max line, primed it, and was all set. It’s not a difficult process at all and is a quick one to manage. If you’re in the middle of frying, it will take less than 30 seconds to fill, prime, and use. The pump doubles as a cap and keeps the oil fresh. The spray mechanism is easy to work and the cap looks like an aerosol one. I haven’t had to wash it yet, but it is recommended that you do so every six to eight weeks. I did however, rinse the top to keep the nozzle from clogging. The concept of the Mister is probably somewhat like using Pam, only I now have my choice of oils. One can also use balsamic and fine vinegars as well. I baked a sweet bread and instead of using the Pam, I used the Ideal Oil Mister in its stead to coat the pan. I had no sticking nor difficulty lifting the individual bread pieces from the pan. I was pleased that I was able to spread the mist evenly enough around the pan to prevent sticking. I don’t use non-stick pans, but rather old-fashioned glass ones so the misting was nice.
